Hello, my friends!  Summer officially begins in just a couple of days!  The weather here in Connecticut has been beautiful and beckons us to be outside. This summer we are having the exterior of our home painted, and the painters just started this past week.  I am so excited about this and  can’t wait to share the color we chose, along with some beautiful details we will be adding to our home.

So, this perfect time to update our porch for summertime relaxing and entertaining. We use this space every day and I am so thankful for it. Last week, I had shared some ideas as I was planning the summer porch refresh. After browsing Birch Lane’s website, I narrowed my choices to just four items to purchase. These items are both practical, as well as beautiful. They are also fairly inexpensive, but make a large impact in my space.

Shopping With Birch Lane

Over the past year, I have started shopping online much more. Birch Lane is a company that I can count on for superior quality, value, and customer service. I love the relaxed, but classic and timeless style Birch Lane offers. This past year, I have shared some of my favorite Birch Lane finds for your living room, dining room, and outdoor space.

Where do you look for inspiration in your home decor?

For me, home decor is not just about a look or a style, but creating a feeling. My favorite place to spend time during the summer months is at the beach…specifically Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.  There’s something about spending time near the water that relaxes and rejuvenates me. Since our family vacation isn’t planned until August, I thought I could recreate that feeling of relaxation on my back porch. Hydrangeas, found pieces of sea glass and shells, my DIY Faux Mercury Glass Votive Holders, along with some favorite Birch Lane finds bring the coastal feeling that I long for.

Add Lighting

Last year, we added some string lights on our porch, but I love the glow of candlelight. This tabletop lantern is so versatile and can be used both indoors, as well as outdoors. It stands at more than 18 inches tall, which makes it a beautiful focal point. I used a single pillar candle, but am thinking about how I can arrange a couple of pillars or flameless candles inside.  Wouldn’t it be great to use in a seasonal display?

Create Cozy Spaces with Pillows

This colors and fabric pattern on this set of two Emilie Tucker Resist Azure Indoor/Outdoor Throw Pillows immediately drew me in.  I love the combination of the vibrant blue against the creamy white background.  The fabric is durable, but still soft and comfortable.  I know that I will have these for years to come.

Prepare for Entertaining

We spend a great deal of time on our porch and also around our DIY fire pit that we build last year. This Beverage Tub with Stand is a great addition to our outdoor space.  This is a great addition to our outdoor space, but I can also envision using it indoors as well.  Along with being solid, deep, and sturdy, this beverage tub was so easy to put together and is a great value.

Dining on the Porch

My family and I eat most of our meals out on the porch, especially during the summer months. I love to set a pretty table for our meals, whether it’s just a small summer meal for two or a larger holiday celebration for the family. When I saw this Nantucket Dinnerware, I knew it would be perfect for summer. Since it has arrived, this dinnerware has quickly become my family’s favorite and I can see that we will use it all year long. These creamy white dishes have a lovely basketweave design that reminds me of the classic Nantucket Baskets.

Don’t you just love the classic pattern of this dinnerware? I paired it here with my DIY Cloth Napkins.
