Welcome to My Family Thyme

For those who are new to My Family Thyme, welcome! I’m Lynne… a Connecticut wife and mom of two adult children. I am a Kindergarten teacher by day and a home enthusiast by night. My Family Thyme is my creative place where I share craft projects, recipes, and budget-friendly home decor ideas.

Here is Connecticut, we are just beginning to see the first peeks of spring. I am slowly transitioning my home from winter to spring and brightening up my home with these simple and inexpensive decorating ideas.

Make and Hang a Floral Wreath

Nothing says welcome to a new season like a beautiful wreath! Display a seasonal wreath any place where you would like a pop of spring color. Here I hung my Pink and White Floral Spring Wreath on my back door to welcome guests and my Easy DIY Floral Wreath on an interior door or wall for instant spring decor. You may enjoy hanging a seasonal wreath on a window or a mirror too!

Add a Garden Inspired Tablecloth

Add a beautiful floral tablecloth. I recently received this gorgeous floral tablecloth from Saffron Marigold and I couldn’t love it more. The botanical blooms are perfect for the spring! I can’t wait to use it for Easter this year!

Bring Lighter Fabrics into Your Home

Consider swaping out thick textured fabrics for ones that are lighter and brighter.

Replace heavy throws, pillow covers, and curtains with fabrics that are light and breathable. Linens

Bring in Fresh Greens and Flowers

Fresh flowers and greenery always add beauty, color, and a lovely scent to a space. My favorite place to pick up some beautiful blooms is Trader Joe’s. They always have a wide variety to choose from, within a small budget.

Create a Vibrant Centerpiece

Colorful centerpieces always make a table extra special. To keep it simple and low-maintenance, why not Create a Spring Arrangement Mixing Faux & Fresh Flowers? These high quality faux flowers are so life-life and beautiful!

Add a Pop of Color with Glassware

Colored glassware is a beautiful and inexpensive way to add a pop of color to your spring home. My grandmother was a collector of colored depression glass. Bringing pieces colored glass into my home always reminds me of her.

Use Seasonal Accents

Add a simple and beautiful touch of Springtime to your home with seasonal accents. Here I decorated an old lantern for spring with some ribbon, moss, and Rustic Wood Bunnies, and these DIY Decoupaged Easter Eggs.

Shop Your Home

Instead of shopping for new decor, consider shopping your own home and repurposing decor items. By moving your home decor pieces to a different space, you can create a fresh look with your own treasured items.
