Hello Friends and Happy Sunday! There’s something about a cold, cozy weekend that makes me want to slow down and focus on the little things that make home feel good. When the weather outside is frigid, staying in is the best plan. This weekend has been a mix of planning ahead, tackling a few small organizing projects, and enjoying some quiet reading time – simple, but so satisfying.

Planning Super Bowl Snacks

Super Bowl Sunday has a way of bringing everyone together – whether it is for the football game, the commercials, or for the snacks. Even though the big game is not until next Sunday, I have been having fun planning a few easy and delicious snacks for next weekend. There’s something so fun about having snacks that everyone can nibble on all afternoon and evening. Cozy, casual, and just a little indulgent feels just right for next Sunday.

I am planning to make my family’s favorite pulled pork. I have been making this Perfect Pulled Pork recipe from Kevin and Amanda for many years and it is always a hit. It does take a little planning ahead, but is definitely worth it.

Along with pulled pork sandwiches, we’ll be enjoying some fresh cut veggies with this Irresistible Veggie Dip from Julie Blanner.

Of course, I will be making a tray of these easy and delicious BBQ Chicken Sheet Pan Nachos. Simple, warm, and full of flavor, these nachos will be perfect for game day!

No menu is complete without something sweet, and cookies feel like the perfect choice—especially classic New England Toll House chocolate chip cookies.

Organizing

Cold weekends are the perfect time for small decluttering projects – the kind that don’t take all day, but make a big difference. I’ve been slowly working through some kitchen drawers and cabinets, filling bags with donations and creating a little more breathing room around the house. There’s something so gratifying about cleaning out and knowing everything will feel a bit more organized heading into the week ahead.

Reading Time and Favorite Books

Of course, no cozy weekend is complete without some reading time. One of my goals for 2026 is to read more and I am happy to say that I am off to a great start. At the end of December, I finished Ina Garten’s Be Ready When the Luck Happens: A Memoir. During January, I read Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover and The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. My daughter just finished The Correspondent by Virginia Evans and passed it along to me. I am so excited to curl up and start it today.

Looking back, my favorite book of 2025 was The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon – it’s one I can’t stop thinking about. I am always looking for book recommendations, so I would love to know: What are you reading right now?

This weekend has been a reminder that the best weekends don’t have to busy. A little planning, a little productivity, and plenty of rest can be the perfect balance. The cold, cozy days are meant to be enjoyed, soaking up the comforts of home before a new week begins.

I hope your Sunday is filled with warmth, simple joys, and a few favorite comforts – whether it’s planning something fun, organizing a small space, or getting lost in a good book.

  1. Lynne – I loved “The Frozen River”! Perfect combination of history and personal stories. I had hoped the author wrote more books in the same sort of subject matter, but she has not.
Another great book by Freida McFadden is “The Locked Door”. Really well done!

Thank you for the recipes – since the game doesn’t start until 6:30, they seem to be great options for dinner.

Hope you and your family are well!

    1. Hi Kristine,

I’m so glad you loved The Frozen River, too! It really was such a beautiful blend of history and personal storytelling — I felt the same way and definitely wished she had more books just like it. Thank you for the recommendation of The Locked Door! I’m adding that one to my list. I always appreciate new reading suggestions!

I hope you and your family are well! 💛
