Hello Friends! I am back with a new week of Sunday Favorites. I have taken some time and have been easing into the year. January invites us to slow down, reset, and enjoy the quiet beauty of winter. With the holidays behind us, this month is all about simple comforts, fresh starts, and finding joy in everyday moments. Today’s Sunday Favorites is a cozy mix of home inspiration, easy seasonal ideas, and a few little things that made this week feel extra special.

Embracing a Gentle Reset

I make resolutions with the best intentions. I start out strong, but long-term change can be challenging. So instead of jumping straight into big resolutions this year, I’m taking a different approach. I’ve been focusing on small, meaningful changes like decluttering one drawer, refreshing my routine, reading more, being more mindful of what I eat and how I move my body, and letting go of the pressure to do it all at once. January is feeling gentler as I allow myself to ease into the year.

Comforting Recipes

During the holiday break, I read Ina Garten’s memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in a day. Reading her story inspired me to watch some of old episodes of Barefoot Contessa and make some of her recipes. One of my favorites that I made is her Italian Wedding Soup. It is so flavorful and delicious!

One of my family’s favorite meals is this Lemon Chicken Recipe from Natasha’s Kitchen. It is light and lemony, while still being warm and comforting. It is delicious served over mashed potatoes or mashed cauliflower. So good!

This recipe is all about keeping things simple. Quick to make and easy to customize, these Easy Chocolate Covered Rice Cakes are perfect for an afternoon treat, a lunchbox surprise, or a little something sweet.

Crafts

We are having a snowy weekend here in Connecticut. It is a perfect time to enjoy some crafting and creating. On Tuesday, I’ll be sharing a new Valentine’s Day craft. This easy project is perfect for adding a little homemade charm to the upcoming season.

One of my favorite simple Valentine’s Day projects is this sweet Reverse Canvas Valentine Art. With just a few supplies, you can create a heartfelt sign that adds the perfect handmade touch to a shelf, mantel, or tabletop. This “I love you a bushel & a peck” design is easy to make, timeless, and just as lovely to gift as it is to keep.

I love the simplicity of this Sweet Valentine Garland with Hearts and Pom Poms from my friend Crissy of First Day of Home.

A wreath made from paper plates? Yes! Use floral paper plates to create this beautiful Paper Rosette Wreath. The Happy Happy Nester shared this beautiful project on her blog.

How about a wreath made from paper bags? Absolutely! My friend, Cindy, of DIY Beautify shared her Paper Bag Roses Valentines Wreath. It is such a fun, creative, and adorable project!

Cozy Home Finds

Cozy home finds are always a favorite this time of year, and I’ve been loving simple pieces that make everyday spaces feel a little more inviting. Soft textures, warm neutrals, and thoughtful details can instantly add comfort to your home, especially during the winter months. These are the kind of finds that make you want to slow down, settle in, and truly enjoy being at home.

Thanks for Spending Sunday with Me

I hope this January Sunday Favorites encourages you to slow down, savor the season, and find beauty in simple moments. Whether you’re refreshing your home, enjoying a cozy meal, or carving out time to rest, may this new year begin gently and joyfully.

  1. Lynne – these are some great ideas! Thank you for sharing. And I very much appreciate you recognizing January (and maybe February) are indeed winter months, and call for a little winter mindset and routine. Reading, moving (when it’s NOT snowing outside), easy recipes, and just some quiet personal time. Besides, what other time of the year offers this opportunity?!? I am intrigued by the Ina Garten book, as well as the “After School Snack” recipe! Thank you for sharing, and I am glad to hear you are well! Best always!

Wishing you all the best, my friend! xo
