Welcome to the first day of the Fall One Room Challenge! This is my first time as a guest participant in this amazing event hosted by Linda from Calling It Home. Twice a year bloggers and interior designers are challenged to choose a room in their home to transform. The challenge is that the room needs to be completed in just 6 weeks. Every Thursday for the next six weeks, the internet will be full of design inspiration and creativity. If you are like me and love a good before and after, you will definitely want to check it out.
With the holidays around the corner, my family and I will be hosting guests. We do have a spare bedroom that mostly serves as a catch-all. Right now it is full of clothes to be donated, mismatched furniture, and various odds and ends. I actually feel the need to close the door when guests come over. I have been wanting to do something with this room for the past couple of years and this is just the motivation I need to get it done.
My goal is to create an inviting space that I will be proud to hosts our guests in. I have been planning this space in my head for some time and now I am ready to make it happen. In addition to transforming this space, I am planning to do it within a budget.
Here are my before pictures. Sorry, they are not the best quality. The lighting in this room makes it difficult to photograph.
Here is my plan for this room:
I would like to add some pops of color to this room with painted furniture and fun fabric pillows. I love the beautiful fall colors in this pillow from Pier 1. The textured pattern in this coverlet from Bed Bath & Beyond is simple and elegant. A sisal rug is a floor covering that will add some textured warmth to the room.
I can’t wait to get started. Be sure to check in next week to see my progress. Do you have a room that you have been wanting to tackle? Do you need a little motivation to get started too? If so, feel free to join in! Visit Calling It Home for more details.
I love your color choices! Looking forward to finished project.
I appreciate your kind words and encouragement, Lori! Wishing you a great week ahead!
The colors in that pillow are a great starting point. Just beautiful.
