Hello and welcome! I am so excited to join in with some of my talented blogging friends for the Celebrate Fall Home Tour, hosted by Leen from Sand Dollar Lane. If you are visiting from Jen’s beautiful home at Noting Grace, welcome! Her fall entryway is so lovely!

Do you love creating and setting a festive table for your friends and family? Beautiful centerpieces always make a table extra special, but they don’t have to be expensive. Have you ever thought about mixing fresh flowers with faux flowers? With so many realistic artificial flowers available, as well as fresh garden blooms, you can create a simple and beautiful centerpiece for your fall table.

What You Will Need to Create a Fall Centerpiece:

The Container

You will need an opaque container that will hide the floral foam. I recycled a container that came with a flower arrangement that I had received as a gift from my class last year. I love the shape of it! It got a new look with a coat Annie Sloan chalk paint in the color French Linen.

The Fresh Flowers

For fresh flowers, I used some faded blue blooms that grow on my big leaf hydrangea bushes, as well as a few cone-shaped limelight hydrangeas. These came from my yard and a friend’s yard. You can read all about how to dry hydrangeas here!

The Faux Flowers

Faux Sunflowers, Orange Queen Anne’s Lace, Yellow Globe Thistle Spray, Eucalyptus, as well as some greenery were my choices for this flower arrangement. I purchased my faux flowers at Michaels. Here are the ones I used and few other options!

How to Make Your Fall Centerpiece:

Choose and prepare your container. Add your floral foam to fit your container. If your flowers are fresh, soak your floral foam first and fill your container about 2/3 full of water. If your flowers are dry, you will not need to soak your foam or add water.

Add greenery to the edge of your container. I inserted the end of the stem into the floral foam and shaped it around the perimeter of the container, letting it spill over the edge to create a full base.

First, I began with my large hydrangea blooms. Remove most of the leaves from the hydrangea stems, leaving just a couple near the bloom. Trim the stems and insert the stems into the floral foam. Try not to move the stems around too much so they will not become loose.

Next, trim the stems of the faux flowers, again removing lower leaves from the stems. Insert the larger flowers first. I first started with the sunflowers and then filled in the gaps with the Queen Anne’s lace and Thistle spray.

The great thing about using faux flowers is that you can bend the stems as needed. Be sure to turn your arrangement as you are creating so that you can seen that it is balanced and full from all angles.

Lastly, I decided to add a few sprigs of eucalyptus to spill over the edge of the container a bit more.

Place Your Fall Centerpiece and Set Your Table

Do you have fun setting a beautiful table for your family or friends? I sure do! Now that I have my centerpiece, I mixed old items with new to incorporate a variety of textures and muted, autumn colors on my fall table.

I shopped my home and found a few items to include on this table. A cream-colored velvet runner, round jute placemats, my Grandmother’s silver, water goblets, and brass candle sticks decorate the table. These beautiful creamy white Nantucket dishes from Birch Lane are my favorite dishes. They are the same ones I shared in my Coastal Porch Refresh. I love the basketweave design that reminds me of the classic Nantucket Baskets.

These pretty napkins were a Home Goods find, but you can find some similar ones here and here!

I also added these adorable artificial acorns from Michaels. I love the little touch of fall they add.
