Did you ever wonder how to make a wreath out of a pizza pan? It is much easier than you might think! A few years back, I used a Dollar Tree pizza pan to make this DIY Patriotic Pizza Pan Door Hanger and today I have a new pizza pan wreath to share with you for Spring!

What you will need:

  • pizza pan (from Dollar Tree)
  • paint (I used Fusion Mineral paint in the color Ash that I had left over from another project.)
  • paint brushes
  • Vinyl Lettering (If you don’t have a Cricut Explore Air Machine to cut your permanent vinyl, you could always use pick up some letter stickers at your local craft store. If you do cut your letting with a Cricut, you will also need a cutting mat and transfer tape.)
  • a piece of jute roping
  • ribbon
  • glue gun with hot glue sticks
  • greenery/artificial flowers

How to Make an Easy Spring Dollar Tree Pizza Pan Wreath

The Pizza Pan

The first thing you want to do is paint the base of your pizza pan. It took two coats of Fusion Mineral paint to cover it completely, letting it dry between coats. (You can always use a hair dryer to speed up the drying time between base coats of a water-based paint.)

Once the front of the pizza pan is completely dry, flip it over and hot glue a piece of jute on the back. This will be used to hang it. Now that the base is done, let’s decorate!

The Lettering

I first measured the diameter of the pizza pan and kept that in mind when sizing my words.

For the lettering, I used my Cricut Explore Air Machine. I played around with some fonts in Cricut Design Space until I found two that complemented each other well. I like to pair a classic font with a script font.

When I was happy with my lettering design, I welded the words and cut them using the Cricut Explore Air Machine, along with white permanent vinyl.

Once all of the cutting is done, I weeded the vinyl. This means I used my weeding tool from this basic Cricut tool kit to remove the excess vinyl so that I just had the lettering left.

Applying the Lettering to the Pizza Pan

The next step is to use Cricut vinyl transfer tape to transfer the lettering onto the pan. Cut a piece to size, peel off the backing (but keep it for later), and adhere the transfer tape to your lettering, smoothing as you go. Next, remove the backing from the lettering and place the lettering onto the pan.

If you don’t have a Cricut and are using stickers, I would still recommend using Cricut vinyl transfer tape. The grid on the transfer tape helps to align the lettering so it goes on straight. When you are happy with the placement, carefully peel back the transfer tape and replace it on its backing. You can reuse it again!

Decorating the pizza pan wreath for Spring

I added a few pieces of artificial greenery and spring flower stems that I had left over from another project. I also used the leftover ribbon from my Simple Spring Floral Wreath and my Bowdabra Bow Maker to create a bow.

What kind of paint do you use on a pizza pan?

You can use acrylic paint, as I did on my DIY Patriotic Pizza Pan Door Hanger, mineral paint, or chalk paint. You will need to use multiple coats of paint, with time to dry between coats.

When our weather is a little warmer here in Connecticut, I am planning to try spray Chalk Paint. I think the spray paint will give a smoother finish, while chalk paint sticks to anything really well.

Where can I hang my pizza pan wreath?

Depending on the type of paint you use, you can hang it on an exterior door or covered porch. You might like to hang it on an interior door or on a wall as a pretty seasonal decoration.
