I love decorating my home for each holiday and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Each year I like to craft and make some new decorations for the holiday. As a working mom, I need to keep it easy and inexpensive. In the past, I made a Valentine heart garland and created a pretty pink Valentine’s Day table for my family. I was thinking about what I could do this year that might be a little different. Then I remembered a craft I had done with my fourth grade students many years ago…frosted candle holders.

What supplies do I need?

How do I make a DIY frosted glass candle holder?

  1. Begin with a clean jar.  I love to use recycled Oui yogurt jars. These are the same jars I used for my DIY Faux Mercury Glass Votive Holders.
  2. Next, using removable Cricut vinyl, cut out your own design. I have shared mine with you in Cricut Design Space.
  3. Then place your vinyl design onto your jar, smoothing it as you go.
  4. In a well-ventilated area, lightly spray the exterior of the glass jar with Rustoleum Frosted Glass Spray Paint. (Be sure to follow the directions for using the spray paint.)
  5. The frosted glass effect will be seen in about 5-10 minutes. Let your jar sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  6. Finally, carefully peel off your vinyl to expose your design.
  7. Add a tea light candle and enjoy the glow!

As I said, this was such a fun Valentine’s Day craft to do with my fourth graders. They had a ball creating their own designs with a piece of removable vinyl and some scissors.  How would you design yours?
