If you are new to My Family Thyme, I am so glad you’re here! I’m Lynne, a life-long New England girl. I’m a Connecticut wife, mom to two young adults, and fourth grade teacher by day…as well as a crafter, baker, gardener, and self-proclaimed home decor enthusiast by night. I am a lover of all things home and family.

Welcome! I live in a traditional New England, colonial-style home and am excited to welcome you into my home today! I love to keep my home decor simple and classic. This Christmas table setting that I am sharing today is the perfect combination of both.

Christmas Garland Centerpiece

I created a simple Christmas garland centerpiece that came together in just a few minutes. To create one for yourself, you will need:

Garland – I used a real-touch faux garland from Afloral. Mine is 60 inches. It’s currently unavailable, but you can find a similar one here. You can also use a real garland. These are usually available at your local garden center, hardware store, or Trader Joe’s.

Boxwood and Holly Clippings – I just went out in my yard and clipped some fresh greens to add natural texture and color.

Dried Orange Slices – Bake orange slices in your oven at 200 degrees for 3-4 hours. I tried using the air fryer, but wasn’t as happy with the result as I am when I take the time to bake them.

Ribbon and Bells Garland – I will be sharing the tutorial for this simple and inexpensive later this week.

Holiday Jar Floating Candles with Boxwood and Cranberries – Using fresh Boxwood clippings and cranberries

Christmas Bulb Ornaments – The ones I used belonged to my grandparents, but I found some pretty ones that you may enjoy. You can see them here.

How to Put Your Garland Centerpiece Together

  1. Lay your garland on your table or runner, creating an S shape with your garland.
  2. Insert some fresh clippings. I used Boxwood, along with Holly.
  3. Lay ribbon and bell garland on the greenery, curving it to create a pattern.
  4. Add dried orange slices.
  5. Place the ornaments and floating candle jars in the curves of the garland.

Christmas Place Setting

When decorating my dining room table for Christmas, I try to make it feel special without it being overdone.

I used these round jute placemats. They are so versatile and add a natural touch. Then, I added gold-colored chargers from Dollar Tree, with my favorite Nantucket Dinnerware. These timeless creamy white dishes have a lovely basketweave classic design.

A single vintage ornament, along with beautiful monogrammed napkins made by my dear friend Pinar at Happiest Creative Design Studio complete each place. If you are looking for customized textiles, I highly recommend her beautiful shop!

I love that this pretty centerpiece is low and encourages conversation at the table. After all, the holidays are about being together and enjoying your meals together.

Adding More Holiday Touches

On the side table, I added another floating candle jar and a few touches, keeping it simple.

Adding Christmas bulbs to bowl is such an easy and inexpensive way to add a festive touch to your decor. Add a little interest with a ribbon wrapped Christmas ornament.

Thank you so much for visiting today! I hope you are leaving here with some ideas to help you welcome Christmas into your home. I would love to connect with you on FacebookInstagramPinterest, or here on the blog!
