There are so many people who give a great deal of thought about the quality of the food they put into their bodies. We also are very aware of the chemicals in our home cleaners and how they affect our environment. But how often do we ever really stop to think about our skin care products and the chemicals that we put on our skin?
I have been thinking about it more and more often…especially as I age and think about all of the products I have experimented with through the years. When I look at the list of ingredients on some of the bottles, it makes me uneasy that these chemicals are being absorbed into my skin.
Back in the fall, I saw a Facebook post from an old high school friend, that her sister, Julie, had begun a business of making all natural skin care products. I checked out her site, contacted her, and placed my first order. That was my first introduction to Pure Living.
Pure Living products are homemade and have not been approved by the FDA. I am a consumer, sharing my experience with you. I am not being compensated in any way for this post.
I have to say, Julie’s products are amazing…and they really work. I began by trying the Tea Tree Facial Scrub. For me, it has helped keep my skin hydrated and smooth. I had a calcium deposit on my forehead that I was planning to have checked at the dermatologist. After using this facial scrub for a couple of weeks, the calcium deposit was gone. Now, this was just my experience, but it was enough to keep me using it. The oils in the product keep my skin feeling soft and moisturized. Tea Tree Facial Scrub can be used as a cleanser, as well as a make-up remover. With three simple ingredients, I feel good about using this product daily.
Another product that I really enjoy is the Pre-Game Shave Oil. I keep one bottle in the shower to use for shaving. With such a pleasing scent, this oil hydrates and leaves my legs feeling soft and smooth.
As an elementary teacher, I stand for a large part of the day. You can imagine how tired and achy my feet can feel after a long day at school. As a result, I was thrilled when Julie sent me a free sample of her Peppermint Foot Scrub with my order. It soothed my tired feet by providing a cool sensation and reduced odor.
The Lemon Lavender Honey Goat Milk Soap was also sent as a sample. At only $4.50 per bar, this all natural soap is very affordable. Its calming scent is pleasing, while leaving my skin feeling soft during our dry Connecticut winter.
The last product that I tried was actually for our rescue dog, Teddy. He is a yellow lab who instantly became part of our family when we met him more than 7 years ago. When he was younger, he would get into a lot of mischief! He ate everything and anything. Even though he has outgrown those behaviors, I am so careful around the house to make sure that he does not ingest any chemicals.
When we went back to school in the fall, Teddy was anxious and began to continually licked one paw. He goes through this each year after he has become accustomed to having everyone home and then he has to adjust to being home alone for a portion of the day. To help him, I sprayed Dog Gone Itch, All Natural Anti-Itch for Pets on Teddy’s paw, before it became raw. The result was that Teddy left his paw alone. Of course, if it continued or became raw, I would have taken Teddy to the vet, but it was nice to avoid a trip and a bill from the vet.
During the harsh New England winter, when the air and our skin has become so dry, a spray of Dog Gone Itch has kept Teddy’s skin from becoming dry and itchy. It’s definitely one of my favorite products.
With the growing number of products being offered by Pure Living, I will definitely be trying out more. I hope you give Pure Living a try!
Have you tried any all natural skin care products? Have you found any that your really enjoy? What are some of your favorites? I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
I love, love, love all of Pure Living products. The 1st one I used was the body butter and I have been hooked. I always give it as gifts and everyone ends up wanting more. But as a great side point all of Julie’s products are so concentrated that they last a long time. You don’t need to replace your products as often as you do with store-bought chemically filled products. The other product I love is the body scrub. I use it in the shower every day and it keeps my skin so moisturized and smooth. I just started using the magnesium spray to help with my headaches and I have to say I feel like that’s helped a great deal and I’m sleeping better and feel a lot calmer. But lastly my most favorite is the repair renew redo night cream. I got it as a free sample and wasn’t sure about using it at first but now I can’t live without it. I feel like if I don’t use it I have a terrible night’s sleep and when I asked Julie about it she said the frankincense oil in it aids in opening up the nasal passages which is probably why I’m sleeping better. But then I thought if it works for the nasal passages maybe I will have my husband try it because he snores. Well sure enough this helps him sleep better and he hasn’t been snoring. Which is a real win for me! The other day someone asked him if he had been on vacation because his skin look so radiant and I heard him go into a full explanation of Pure Living and its benefits. I highly recommend this product, this company and most of all this beautiful woman who puts so much thought and love into everything she does.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Beth. Your kind words about Julie’s products are appreciated. I am so happy to share how well these all natural products work. I can’t wait to try more! Best wishes for a wonderful weekend ahead! 🙂
Thank you Beth! Your encouragement throughout this whole process has been amazing!! I truly appreciate it. 🙂
haven’t heard of them but we do have a similar place here in branson that makes all of their products from goats milk, herbs, and oils. I was just noticing how I needed to double up on my lotions right now. I do love natural.
