A Simple Easter Brunch at Home

I am letting go of tradition for this year and planning a simple Easter brunch at home. I am setting a simple, yet elegant holiday table.

Hello and welcome to My Family Thyme! Today I am honored to be joining in with my lovely and talented friend Chloe from Celebrate & Decorate for an Easter Tablescape Blog Hop!  If you are visiting from Southern Nell Gracious Living, I am so glad you’re here!

I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.  I have been a little absent lately as we all are adjusting to our new way of life.  As a teacher, I have been busy collaborating with colleagues and transitioning my students to a new way of learning.  With so much uncertainty right now, I felt a little unsure about posting.  However, I have missed you all!  With everyone staying at home, it is so wonderful to be connected here!

Easter is going to be a little different this year.  We’re letting go of some of our traditions, while remembering that this holiday and this season is all about hope, love, and new beginnings.

I kept our table simple, yet elegant this year.  On our table, we’re embracing and honoring the past with my family’s vintage pieces… like milk glass, vintage flatware, my grandmother’s china, and my favorite glasses that also belonged to her.

Simultaneously, we are celebrating spring with pops of color and texture. Striped DIY cloth napkins, fun Easter egg towels from Target (last year), and some artificial speckled eggs placed on a bed of soft moss bring in soft pastel hues and hints of the season.

Our gathering will be smaller this year…just my husband, my children and my mother in law, who is staying with us, and myself.  We’re breaking our tradition of having a large family dinner and are going to try something new…a simple Easter brunch, complete with Baked Eggs with Gruyere, Leeks and Tarragon, Blueberry Muffin Breakfast Cake, and maybe Strawberry Shortcake Deconstructed too.

Of course, our Easter decor wouldn’t be complete without tulips!  I love to decorate with fresh flowers and picked these beauties up while recently at the grocery store.

Keeping it simple, but making it special. We are ready for Easter! I hope you are inspired and have some ideas to take away and use for your Easter celebration this year!

Wishing you peace, happiness, and the best of health!

  1. Lynne, having to teach from home must be a challenge to adjust to. I’m so glad that you created this lovely Easter table to enjoy for a few weeks. Love the speckled eggs and the ticking napkins. Aren’t you lucky to have the milk glass. Have a wonderful brunch with your family.

  2. Simple, elegant, soft and soooo pretty! Happy Easter Lynne!

  3. Your Easter table is so pretty! The vintage lover in me loves that you set your table with many family pieces.

Easter is going to be very different for many of us this year. This will be the first Easter in my life that I won’t be traveling to my mom’s house after church to celebrate. That makes me so sad!

Good luck with your school situation. Teachers are stressed about the changes and parents are stressed about having to become the instructor. I’m very glad that I am no longer in the classroom. I know I’d be a nervous wreck over all of it.

  4. Hi Lynn, Sometimes simple is so special! Love how you put that!! The soft pinks, and the greens, and the milk glass truly sing together!! So glad to be joining all you talented ladies on this blog hop!

  5. Hi Lynne, My sister is a teacher and has been dealing with the same things to keep in touch with her students. We’re all adjusting to our ‘new normal’. Love your simple and pretty table and your menu sounds delicious. Happy to be hopping with you this week! Happy Easter wishes to you and your family. ♥

  6. Your home and table look Easter-ready, Lynne! This will definitely be a different holiday this year, as I will, for the first time, be totally alone. I’m SO thankful for Facetime (what a world we are in, in more ways than one!), and for a family that will be sure to make it special while for me, even though I am home. 🙂 God is good, all the time, and this is all about HIM! Pinned!

  7. I am glad you decided to post and join us for this tablescape hop. A brunch is the perfect way to gather on Easter morning with those that you can be with. I hope your family gathers around your lovely table and celebrates the importance of this holiday. The pink tulips are so pretty. The pastel Easter egg napkin and striped napkins are such sweet nods to this lovely season. I hope you have a happy Easter and stay safe and well.

  8. Lynne, I love all the soft colors mixed with the textures. A simple yet elegant table…so pretty! So nice to hop with you again. Best wishes for a happy and healthy Easter!

  9. Lynne, it is an unsettling time. I think all of our Easter traditions will change drastically. Your family’s vintage pieces are perfect for Easter and I know they bring up wonderful memories. What is Easter without tulips?!! The Easter brunch menu sounds delicious. Stay safe and have a blessed Easter.

  10. Rita Joy @ Harbour Breeze Home says:

Lynne! I think we have matching table runners today! I think that’s so neat! Mine came from my mom’s pile of vintage linens and I just love it so much. I love everything about your pretty table setting…and sidenote, your photography is amazing!;)

  11. Lynne, your table is everything you set it out to be – simply elegant. I am a huge fan of adding vintage items to a table as you’ve done, but the fact that yours are handed down makes them that much more special. It’s times like these that we realize the value of family and family ties. Best wishes for success as you plan and teach via remote access. I know it must be hard. Take care.

  12. Your lovely table is the perfect brunch setting, and I love pink tulips! Happy almost Easter! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  14. Lynne thank you for sharing your beautiful Easter table. I too have been feeling different about posting during this time but took some time to figure it all out and have been back at it. Glad you took the time you needed and came back to share such a beautiful table. Good luck with your new way of teaching this year, I hope it is going well.

  15. Lynne, Thank you for your dedication as a teacher. I can’t imagine the pressure of a quick change.
I love your milk glass basket and all the family pieces. The tulips are beautiful and cheerful.
Your Easter menu sounds delicious. May you enjoy your family as you celebrate Easter although a little different.
Stay safe. Nice to blog hop again with you.

  16. Lynne, sounds like you have your hands full as a teacher, mom with kids at home, and having your mother-in-law. And, you still managed to set a lovely Easter table for your family! Your menu sounds delicious and is sure to make the holiday meal special. Since it’ll be just hubby and I, our meals will be a lot simplier.

  17. Lynne, my apologies for commenting so late in the Easter blog hop. I seem to have lost my routine in all of the changes because of the stay at home requirements, but slowly I am able to get to see all of the lovely Easter tables. I am so happy too to be connected to everyone during this time. There is something beautiful about how you used all of the meaningful pieces in your Easter table. Your vintage pieces such as milk glass and your grandmother’s china and glassware are so lovingly displayed with your delicate striped ticking napkins and lovely pink tulips. Have a warm and inviting and yet safe and healthy Easter holiday.

  18. Lynne I can only imagine what life is like as a teacher during these shelter in place times. I hope it is over soon! I know you are quite busy teaching your own children and doing tele-teaching! We are all learning something new right now for sure. Your Easter table is so pretty and elegant. I love that you incorporated vintage pieces and family heirlooms for an Easter table. Your menu sounds delicious! Happy Easter Season!
