I hope you all enjoyed a very Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends!
For me, the day after Thanksgiving marks the official beginning of the holiday season. And that means, I can officially start to decorate for Christmas.
While I love to create a warm and festive home, I need to do so on a budget.
Pillows are a perfect accent…they add layers of color and texture.
These pillow covers are an easy DIY that come together in just a few minutes, for very little money.
I began with some plaid holiday napkins from my local Home Goods. At just $6 for a package of four, two packages would make 4 pillow covers.
Pair the napkins up and run a warm iron over them.
Next, try to match up the plaids and pin the right sides together, leaving a 6-8 inch opening, so a pillow form can be easily inserted.
The napkins are 19 inches wide, with a 1/2 inch hem.
I just sewed around the hem and it created an 18 inch pillow cover.
Make a small diagonal cut on each corner, being careful not to cut into the stitching.
Then just turn the pillow cover right side out, carefully pushing the corners out.
Insert the 18 inch pillow form.
To fasten the pillow cover, you can use Velcro.
Just a few pieces, cut in half, did the trick!
Enjoy the patterns, colors, and textures of these beautiful pillow covers!
